A parody RPG in stick figures, running since 2003, with a fixed number of adventures each day.

Type line: the genre, then what sets it apart
A few sentences on what you actually do from minute to minute, with the numbers that matter: classes, levels, players per raid.

Fight01 / 09
3D MMORPG · jobs and flying

A browser remake of the 2000s MMORPG Flyff, short for Fly for Fun. You start as a Vagrant, take one of four first jobs (Mercenary, Acrobat, Assist or Magician) and specialise again at levels 60 and 165 on the way to level 190. Boards, wings and other flying items carry you across the map.
Good for party play and steady levelling that also works on a phone.

Turn-based fantasy RPG · character collecting

A sky-faring fantasy RPG from Cygames. You captain an airship between floating islands, gather a large crew of characters and fight turn-based battles, including raids for up to 30 players. The soundtrack is by Nobuo Uematsu.
Good for players who enjoy collecting characters and planning party line-ups.

3D action MMORPG · faction PvP

A 3D MMORPG that runs in a browser tab. You pick one of four classes (Warrior, Mage, Shaman or Archer), level up in an open world and fight for the Vanguard or Bloodlust faction, with weekly rankings for PvP.
Good for group fights and faction PvP without a game client.
Play at hordes.io ↗Build04 / 09
Idle RPG · skills and combat

An idle RPG built on skills: choose woodcutting, fishing, mining or combat, and the character keeps working while the tab sits in the background, even after you close it. The free browser demo has 11 skills; the full game has 24, and 29 with all three expansions.
Good for people who like to check in for a few minutes and watch levels climb.
Play at melvoridle.com ↗Build05 / 09
Strategy MMO · villages and alliances

One of the oldest browser strategy games, running since 2004. You grow a village from four resources (wood, clay, iron and crop), train your tribe's troops and join an alliance. Each game world is a separate round: on normal worlds the endgame starts after about 200 days, when alliances race to build a Wonder of the World.
Good for planners who like diplomacy and long rounds.
Play at travian.com ↗Story06 / 09
Text RPG · Victorian gothic

A story game set in a London that has sunk into a vast cavern. You spend actions on short scenes called storylets, and one action comes back every ten minutes, so the game is built for short visits through the day. Four main stats and a set of growing menaces decide what you can try next.
Good for readers who like dark humour and stories told in instalments.
Play at fallenlondon.com ↗Classic07 / 09
Comic RPG · timed tavern quests

A comic fantasy RPG built around the tavern. Quests run on a timer and use up thirst for adventure, which comes back with beer or the daily reset. Between quests there is a PvP arena, guilds, more than 30 dungeons and a 100-floor tower, with 12 classes and 8 races to choose from.
Good for short check-ins with a laugh, on a laptop or a phone.
Play at sfgame.net ↗Classic08 / 09
2D MMORPG · turn-based combat

A Polish pixel-art MMORPG with top-down maps and turn-based fights. The English site runs three worlds, and its stats page listed between about 3,700 and 5,100 active players in each on 22 October 2026. Six professions, colour-coded PvP zones and a tournament called the Abyss.
Good for fans of old-school pixel RPGs who like fights with time to think.
Play at margonem.com ↗Story09 / 09
Comedy RPG · stick figures

A parody RPG drawn in stick figures and running since 2003. Each day gives you 40 adventures to spend, plus more from food and drink, on turn-based fights against monsters made of puns. There are six classes, among them the Pastamancer and the Accordion Thief.
Good for anyone who wants jokes with their grinding and a set number of turns a day.

Quick draws
A shortcut for when you already know what kind of evening it is. Each pick rests on a fact from the card, not on a score.
| No. | If you want | Draw | Because |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | To start without signing up | Melvor Idle | The browser demo opens with Skip & Continue and keeps the save in your browser. |
| 02 | A 3D MMORPG you can also play on a phone | Flyff Universe | The official site says it runs in any browser, phones included. |
| 03 | Ten-minute visits through the day | Fallen London | One action comes back every ten minutes, so short visits lose nothing. |
| 04 | A strategy game that lasts months | Travian Legends | On normal worlds the endgame starts after about 200 days. |
| 05 | Jokes, no ads and nothing to pay | Kingdom of Loathing | Free since 2003 with no ads; the only payment is an optional donation. |
Spotlight
Melvor Idle is the one card here with a hard line between free and paid. It is worth knowing where that line sits before you put hours into a save.
Skip & Continue starts the demo at once. The save lives in your browser until you make a free cloud account.
Skills keep levelling while the tab sits in the background, and after you close it.
Games by Malcs builds it. Jagex, the company behind RuneScape, publishes the Steam and iOS versions.
Released in October 2022, September 2023 and March 2024. Throne of the Herald raises the level cap from 99 to 120.

Where it runs
All nine start in a desktop browser. Phones are where they differ, so this is what each official site offers today.
On 22 October 2026 each official site opened its start screen in Chrome on a desktop computer, with nothing installed. Windows, Mac or Linux makes no difference to a browser game.
Flyff Universe says its browser version works on phones. Melvor Idle, Travian Legends and Shakes & Fidget have iOS and Android apps, Margonem has an iOS app, and Granblue Fantasy's apps are listed in the Japanese stores.
If you would rather play in a window of its own, these three have Steam versions as well as the browser one.
We found no official app for these three. They are made for a computer browser.
Suits
A suit tells you what your hands and your evening will be doing, which matters more than whether the setting has elves or gas lamps.
Fight
You steer a character and fight as it happens, alone or in a group. Bring a mouse and some evening time.
Build
You set things in motion and come back later: villages grow, skills level, armies march while you are away.
Classic
Browser RPGs from the 2000s that are still running, with the pace and humour of that era.
Story
Turn-based games where the writing carries you: battles wait for your move and stories arrive in instalments.
How we check
We have not played hundreds of hours of each game, and the cards do not pretend otherwise. This is the work behind every line.
We open each game's official site in a desktop browser and confirm that its start screen (a title screen, a character form or a sign-up) opens there, with nothing to install. Last done on 22 October 2026.
Account, shop and platform details come from the official site, its help pages and its app-store listings, not from forum posts.
Six fixed facts plus a short description of what you do from minute to minute. No scores: the facts are the comparison.
Browser games move, merge and close. We re-open every link before changing the date at the top, and we drop a game whose site no longer lets you start in a browser.
Accounts
Most of these games ask for an account sooner or later. Phishing pages copy browser-game login screens, so it pays to know the real address.

What we are not
Quest Commons is a directory. Accounts, payments, bans and bugs belong to each game's developer, whose support pages are linked from their official sites.
Sessions
Some of these games are built around ten-minute visits, others around a long evening with a group.
Collect a Melvor Idle session, spend a few Fallen London actions or send your Shakes & Fidget hero on the next tavern quest.
Work through part of a day's Kingdom of Loathing adventures, or queue the next buildings in your Travian village.
Group up in Hordes.io or Flyff Universe, or join a Granblue Fantasy raid with up to 30 players.
A Travian world runs for months, and an alliance counts on you to show up. Margonem's guilds and tournaments also reward steady play.
Questions
All nine are free to start. Melvor Idle's browser version is a demo, and the full game is a one-time purchase. The others sell a premium currency, a subscription or an upgrade, and each card names it.
No. All nine open their start screen in a desktop browser with nothing installed. Some also have apps, listed under Where it runs.
Melvor Idle and Flyff Universe let you start without one: Melvor saves in your browser and Flyff offers a temporary character. Margonem, Shakes & Fidget and Kingdom of Loathing ask for a character name and a few choices on the first screen. Hordes.io, Fallen London and Travian Legends ask for an account first, and Granblue Fantasy needs a Mobage, DMM Games or Yahoo! Japan account.
Yes. In a browser the operating system does not matter; any current browser will do.
Seven are played online alongside other people. Melvor Idle is single-player, and Fallen London is mostly a solo story.
On the developer's servers, tied to your account. The one exception is Melvor Idle without an account, which saves in your browser; clearing your browser data would delete that save, and a free cloud account avoids it.
We only list games that start in a browser today. When we checked on 22 October 2026, several well-known browser MMOs had closed or now need a downloaded client, so they are not in the deck.
No. No developer pays for a place, and the links carry no referral code.
Yes, write to hello@questcommons.com. It needs to start free in a browser, without a download.
Use the recovery page on the game's official site. We have no access to any game account.
